Kevin's current focus is data journalism for Syracuse.com on topics including real estate, crime, the economy, the Covid-19 pandemic and more. He analyzes trends and produces stories, charts and tables using publicly available data sets and tools like Excel, Datawrapper and Caspio. He's also responsible for publishing wire stories to Syracuse.com, writing aggregated stories on regional, state and national topics and aiding in the production of email newsletters. He's occasionally involved with coverage of government and politics and spent over two years reporting on New York's response to the Covid-19 pandemic and scandals involving former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He has also covered retail and other business news. Kevin's business writing was recognized in 2014 with a third-place award for business and finance reporting from the New York State AP Association. He was also part of a team that won the New York News Publishers Association award for Distinguished Breaking News Coverage in 2022 for coverage of Micron's decision to build a series of computer chip manufacturing plants in the Syracuse area. He graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2001 with a degree in newspaper and minors in Spanish and political science.
