Legendary rock band Aerosmith is abruptly retiring from touring, canceling the rest of its “Peace Out” farewell tour dates.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced Friday that lead singer Steven Tyler will not be able to fully recover from his vocal injury. In a joint statement, Aerosmith’s members announced they would not continue performing live together.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” the band said in a statement.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision - as a band of brothers - to retire from the touring stage.”

Aerosmith was sent to resume its final tour in September, but has instead canceled all of its shows, including a final Upstate New York concert on Feb. 26, 2025, at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Only one other stop was scheduled in New York state on Feb. 23 at Madison Square Garden in NYC.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. Fans who purchased tickets through third-party sellers like StubHub and VividSeats are encouraged to reach out to the point of purchase.

The Grammy-winning group had been performing together for more than 50 years. Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer John Douglas and guitarist Brad Whitford are all in their 70s; founding drummer Joey Kramer was not scheduled to perform on the tour as he focused on “family and health.”

Aerosmith originally announced its farewell tour in early 2023, but performances were suspended and rescheduled after just three shows when Tyler, now 76, severely injured his larynx.

Aerosmith was one of the biggest bands on the planet for decades, thanks to hits like “Dream On,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Livin’ on the Edge” and the Run-DMC collaboration “Walk This Way.” They were the first artist to have its own “Guitar Hero” video game and performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, including the Super Bowl and the FIFA World Cup.

“We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you - the best fans on planet Earth,” Aerosmith said Friday. “Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
