Upstate NY woman charged with setting house on fire with her mother inside

MILTON — An Upstate New York woman was arrested Sunday evening for attempting to set a house on fire with her mother inside, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

The 31-year-old has been charged with attempted arson, and arson, a felony according to police.

Law enforcement responded to a mental health call at 11:51 p.m. on Paisley Road, according to a news release The caller reported that “the neighbor’s daughter,” had poured gasoline inside her residence and attempted to set it on fire with her mother inside.

Captain Dan Morley of the sheriff’s office said several deputies put out the blaze with fire extinguishers.

The victim, who was uninjured, fled the residence, according to the news release.

The suspect is accused of intentionally attempting to damage a building by starting a fire. She was arraigned in Milton Town Court and sent to the Saratoga County jail.

The investigation is ongoing, Morley said.
