Josh Allen isn’t taking the field until 7 p.m. when the Buffalo Bills take on the Pittsburgh Steelers from Acrisure Stadium, but that’s not stopping one broadcaster from taking a shot at the quarterback.
After going without a catch in the Houston Texans’ preseason debut, Stefon Diggs hauled in a two-yard reception from quarterback CJ Stroud against the New York Giants on Saturday afternoon. It was a routine play that Bills fans had seen from Diggs many times before, but that did not stop one of the Texans’ analysts from making it seem as if Stroud had made an unbelievable throw.
Following the completion, Texans analyst John Harris took the jab at Allen.
“Just get inside your DB and CJ [Stroud] will hit you,” Harris said. “I don’t know if Josh Allen would have, but CJ will put that ball right on the number.”
A little bit of research by Harris would have gone a long way. As pointed out by Warren Sharp, Josh Allen was the best quarterback in the league last season on passes between 1-5 air yards. Allen finished first in completion percentage in that range, first in success rate and second in expected points added (EPA).
Diggs finished the game with one reception for nine yards and one rush for two yards.
