Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse man who has been reviewed by multiple doctors was deemed mentally competent to stand trial Friday after experts accused him of exaggerating mental deficiencies to avoid trial.
Tashawn Adams was set to go to trial for first-degree kidnapping, assault and robbery charges in July but questions about his mental competency delayed the process. One of Adams’ codefendants, Rahim Williams, also had his trial pushed back as awaits a ruling on his mental competency.
