Syracuse, N.Y. -- One day after being named to a preseason watch list for an award the goes to the best defensive player in college football, Syracuse’s Marlowe Wax was named to one recognizing the country’s best linebacker.
Wax was one of 51 players named to the watch list for the Butkus Award on Tueday. The award is given out annually by a selection committee made from football coaches, members of NFL front offices and media members.
