Truxton, N.Y. — A 22-year-old man was rescued Sunday after he got stuck at the bottom of Tinker Falls, officials said.
Firefighters do not know how long the man had been there or how he fell, said Bruce Potter, the former Truxton Fire Department chief.
The man was unable to tell firefighters how long he had been there, Potter said, but he was last heard from around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.
He had head injuries as well as several other injuries, Potter said.
He was removed from the bottom of the falls, placed in a stokes basket, and carried 100 yards using a UTV and rescue trailer, he said.
He was taken to a landing zone and airlifted to Upstate University Hospital, Potter said.
