Police release name of 27-year-old man killed in North Side shooting

Syracuse, N.Y. — Police have released the name of a 27-year-old man who died after being shot on the North Side of Syracuse Saturday night.

Tyus Ogletree was shot in the chest in the 200 block of Sunset Avenue, police said. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he later died.

Ogletree’s death is the first homicide reported in 2023 in Syracuse.

Police responded to a call around 11:43 p.m. where they discovered two men to be shot. Alongside Ogletree, a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg, police said.

Police said the man was also taken to Upstate University and is expected to survive. Police have not released his name.
