Olympic basketball is the ultimate showcase of the best basketball teams and players in the world, and the wait is over as the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris tips off its men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Team USA, the most dominant team in Olympic basketball history, has claimed the gold yet again, becoming the five-time defending champion following their win over France in the gold medal game at the 2024 Olympics. They now have 17 gold medals in the history of the games dating back to 1936. This year’s team featured one of the most highly-anticipated lineups of NBA stars ever, including LeBron James, who made his first Olympics appearance since 2012.

Olympic basketball games are broadcast on CNBC, USA Network, NBC and E! and Spanish-language broadcasts are on Telemundo and NBC Universo. Team USA was in Group C along with Serbia, South Sudan and Peurto Rico. South Sudan gave the Americans an unexpected wake-up call ahead of the Olympics in a showcase game, where they built up a 16-point lead over the USA before the Americans bounced back to finish 101-100.
