On the afternoon of July 24, a female hiker on the popular Mount Van Hoevenberg trail reported that she was being harassed by another hiker.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation dispatch in Ray Brook sent forest rangers to investigate the complaint.

Rangers interviewed the Ohio man and learned that he had interacted with two other hikers who also said they felt threatened by him. Rangers issued the man a ticket for engaging in threatening behavior.
