The 23-13 New York Yankees host the struggling Houston Astros for Game 1 of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Tuesday, May 7 (5/7/2024) at 7:05 p.m. ET.

The Yankees (23-13, 2nd AL East) are coming off a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers to cap off a three-game series sweep in the Bronx. New York still trails the Baltimore Orioles by a game, but they will look to close the gap against the slumping, 12-20 Houston Astros, who are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Seattle Mariners.

The Yankees held a 2-0 advantage through most of Sunday’s Game 3 against Detroit, but the Tigers managed to equalize off Ian Hamilton at the top of the 7th inning. New York fired back at the bottom of the inning, with Juan Soto smashing a go-ahead, bases-clearing double to deep right field to establish the final score for the game. The tarp came out after a scoreless eighth inning, leading to a Yankees win.

Soto’s 28 RBIs for the season so far rank second in the American League so far this year, behind Kansas City’s Salvador Perez with 30.
