The Mariners (26-22) disrupted a seven game winning streak for the Yankees (33-16) when they surprised New York at home with a 5-4 win on Monday night. It looked like New York’s game to win, with a 4-1 lead at the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Mariners uncorked with a stunning four-run ninth inning to clinch the victory. Ty France had the go-ahead RBI single off Clay Holmes, and New York failed to pick up any runs in response.

New York’s Alex Verdugo drove in the first three runs and had helped the Yankees get off to a strong start. But things changed for the Mariners when Luke Raley got an infield single, and later scored on an error. Seattle’s Mitch Haniger had an RBI single and Dominic Canzone had a crucial sacrifice fly to change the dynamics of the game.

Now New York will try to get back in the win column in front of the home crowd, and salvage a chance at winning the four-game series. Here’s the rest of the Mariners-Yankees schedule:
