Man, 29, critically injured from stabbing during quarry party in Onondaga

Onondaga, N.Y. -- A 29-year-old man was critically injured Sunday in a stabbing in the town of Onondaga, sheriff’s deputies said.

The man was attending a party at the Split Rock Quarry in the Town of Onondaga when he was stabbed during an altercation, said Tom Newton, a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 12:20 a.m., deputies arrived and found the victim with a stab wound to the chest, Newton said.

The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable condition, he said.

The victim is expected to survive, Newton said.

No arrests have been made in the stabbing, he said.

Newton said the stabbing is an open investigation and declined to answer questions about the altercation and why the man was stabbed at this time.
