The 2024 NFL preseason, and the start of six straight months of live football, begins with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game between the Texans and Bears on Thursday. A week after that, the preseason proper kicks off on Thursday, August 8, and runs three weeks through Sunday, August 25 before the regular season begins with Week 1 on Thursday, September 5.
The 2024 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, is not expected to suit up for Hall of Fame Game, but it will be the first opportunity for Bears fans looking for a sign of hope after a difficult 2023 season. Tyson Bagent will start for Chicago. He is expected to be Williams’ primary backup for the 2024 season. Williams will start next week for the Bears against the Buffalo Bills.
Houston added former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs during the offseason. The rejuvenated Texans will field new faces Kamari Lassiter, John Metchie III and Cade Stover during the preseason as well.
