LIVERPOOL, N.Y. – Kelli and Randy Tucker joke that they have “been around.”

They have lived in, they think, “12 or 13” houses, from Rochester, to Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado, and even London.

Their latest stop was Liverpool.

The couple have called the five-bedroom house, built in 1999, at 7534 Plum Hollow Circle, home since 2022 when Randy accepted a job at JMA Wireless and moved his family east from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

They looked around the area for a while, especially south of Syracuse, for their new home. Then, they took a chance and went to see the Plum Hollow house and fell in love.

“We went on a gloomy day,” Kelli remembered.

But they were immediately impressed by how bright the interior of the house was with its many windows, two skylights, and raised and vaulted ceilings.

The 0.59-acre lot was smaller than what they were hoping for but it was in a friendly neighborhood, was “very private,” with mature trees which protected the heated saltwater in-ground swimming pool, and the property backed up to the protected Hamlin Marsh Wildlife Management Area, so they never had to worry about neighbors behind them.

“This could work,” Kelli thought.

It did much more than that after the couple moved in in October 2022.

“I like this house,” she added. “It is easily in the top two of houses we have lived in.”

There are so many reasons why they have grown to love it.

“Each room is big,” Kelli said. “Every activity has a spot for it.”

They have a workout space in their finished basement, which can accommodate several pieces of equipment. It walks out to a covered patio, beneath a Trex deck off the main floor, where they keep a hot tub. In the winter, they relax out there then come into the basement where a gas stove has been turned on to warm them.

“It is like a little resort,” she said. “We only wish we had a mountain view.”

With four kids and six grandchildren, the couple have a large family. Accommodating them was easy. There are guest bedrooms on the first and second floor.

The grandkids claim two of the second-floor ones which are connected by a jack-and-jill bathroom. Each other bedroom has its own private bathroom.

The spacious primary bedroom has “lots of walk-in closets,” Kelli said.

“I have lots of clothes, shoes, and handbags,” she adds.

Their ensuite bathroom has double sinks, a Jacuzzi-style bathtub, and a spacious walk-in shower.

She calls the kitchen the “meshing of functionality with beauty.”

The space features a long, tiered island, top-of-the-line appliances, including double ovens and a refrigerated produce drawer in the island, and custom cabinetry. A vent over the stove is hidden from view.

The kitchen has a convenient pantry which is “very, very full,” Kelli jokes, and a walk-in closet type mudroom for all their dogs’ coats and jackets.

“I don’t approve of that,” Randy said, laughing.

A double-sided gas fireplace can be enjoyed in the kitchen and the cozy living room.

They have entertained a lot there and Randy, a Kansas City Chiefs fan, has especially enjoyed the past couple of several Super Bowls in the room. The formal dining room can easily seat ten people.

Off the living room is a sunroom, where Kelli grows plants, and they watch birds and other wildlife who stop by for visits.

“It is a hot room for plants,” Randy said. “A ceiling fan gives it good circulation.”

A home office / sitting room, off the sunny front foyer, is good for business meetings and when you are looking for some “separateness.”

There was little for them to do really to do when they moved in two years ago to “make the house ours.”

They repainted each room inside, updated some wallpaper, removed old columns from the living room, refinished the hardwood floors, and had a new staircase, including banisters and spindles, installed.

“It was a job,” Randy said removing the old one. “I am never doing that again.”

Outside, he enjoys the basketball hoop in the driveway and the amount of storage on the second floor of the attached three-car garage. They keep their kayaks and other items up there.

A solar panel system on the roof cuts power costs and helps pay for the running of the pool’s saltwater filter. Tall trees have industrial uplighting in them for nights in the pool or hot tub.

The house has new furnaces and air-conditioning units.

Both travel quite a bit so they appreciate how quickly they can get to Hancock International Airport, especially compared to some of the other places they have lived.

“It is pretty dang sweet,” Randy said.

A new job and a desire to get back closer to their family out west is why they are selling.

With the property’s location close to where the new Micron plant is being built, it will not be long before another family moves into the house like Kelli and Randy did.

Open houses are scheduled for Sunday, August 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m., and Tuesday, August 20, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
