Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse lawmakers won’t vote next week on whether to protect a mansion that Syracuse University wants to demolish to make room for a new dorm.

The Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board petition to designate 727 Comstock Ave. as a locally protected was put on the agenda for Monday’s Syracuse Common Council meeting, but at a study session Wednesday, Councilor Pat Hogan put a hold on the vote.
