Orchard Park, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said on Monday that third-string quarterback Shane Buechele suffered a neck injury in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Chicago Bears and is expected to miss an extended period.

Buechele played for most of the second half of the Bills’ 33-6 loss against the Bears. He was sacked six times and threw a pick-six interception that helped Chicago pull away in the game. He’s one of several Buffalo players who won’t practice on Monday as the team begins preparation for the Pittsburgh Steelers game set for Saturday night.
